Some information on the church and the village

Kilconquhar - pronounced locally as Kinneuchar has been a winner of various national 'best kept village' awards.
The name Kilconquhar could mean the church of St. Conacher, derived from Kil (Gaelic) which means church, and Conacher, even if nothing is known of any saint by that name.

Women accused of being witches used to be thrown in Kilconquhar Loch, if not drowned, this was proof they were witches and then they were burned.

The spot where the church stands is thought to have been a Druidical place of worship and a burial ground long before the time of Christianity.

The celebration of the 750th Anniversary of Kilconquhar Church was held on Sunday 18th July 1993.
The regular bird life at the loch is further enchanced by the seasonal visitations from afar and attracts many bird watchers and photographers to this quiet spot.
